Privacy policy

What we collect

  • Numbers you look up. Searches are logged against a hashed, non-reversible token of your IP address for rate-limiting and to surface frequently-searched numbers. We do not link searches to identities.
  • Reports you submit. The report text, optional display name, and a hashed IP token (for abuse prevention). Published reports show only your display name.
  • Standard server logs (IP, user agent, URL), kept for 14 days for security and debugging. Traffic statistics built from them keep a hashed token of the IP, the user agent, the page, the referring page and an approximate location (country, region, city) for 75 days; after that only daily totals remain.
  • Visit records. When a page opens in your browser, a small script sends the page address and the page you came from to our server, with a random identifier it keeps in your browser's local storage (wclus_sid; not a cookie). For each page opened we store a record with the page, the time, the referring page, your browser's user-agent string, your IP address and a hashed token of it, the country derived from the IP, and that identifier. We use these records to count visits and distinct visitors, to tell people from automated traffic and to see which countries visits come from. They currently have no fixed deletion date. While the page stays open, the script also sends a short signal every minute so we can see how many people are on the site; that keeps one row per browser (the identifier, the page, the hashed IP token and the country) and is deleted after a day.

Advertising & cookies

The site is funded by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies (such as the Google/DoubleClick cookie) enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.

You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some other third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info/choices or the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

Visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland see Google's consent message before advertising cookies are used; if they refuse, Google does not use cookies to personalize ads but may still show non-personalized ads. They can change their choice at any time with the "Privacy settings" link in the footer of any page that shows advertising. For other visitors, and on pages without advertising, that link opens this policy.

Phone-number data

The numbering, carrier and complaint data we publish concerns phone numbers, not identified individuals, and comes from public sources (NANPA, FCC public records) plus moderated user submissions. If a page about your number contains personal information, use the dispute process and we will remove it.

Your rights
